A Girl Cake...Just Because

Being the mom of all boys I haven't had much opportunity for doing girly cakes. However I have quite the stash of girl decorations! The dye I like is cheapest in a big pack that comes with girl colors as well. I have had to replenish my boy stuff quite a bit which means I keep getting more of the girl stuff that just sits in my cupboard. So I am doing a girl cake. Just because. I'm super excited! I've had this idea in my head for quite some time now and have decided to do it.There will be sparkles, sprinkles, pinks, purples, flowers and so much more! I'll document the process and be sure to post when I'm finished! Stay tuned..

My Top 5 Tips To Remember

1. When Your Going To Be Cutting Or Shaping Cakes ALWAYS Freeze Them First!
This makes them less crumbly and easier to work with. It also keeps them from drying out.

2. Invest In Disposable Bags!
When using multiple colors or tips this will save so much time since you won't have to wash and dry your bags plus it makes clean up much more simple!

3. The Scrape And Lick Technique!
When something is tipped or piped on and doesn't look the way you want it to simply scrape it off with a toothpick and lick! Problem solved and then you can try again :)

4. Always Save Your Scraps!
When cutting and shaping never eat or throw away any scraps until you are completely finished! You never know when you might need some extra cake for something.

5. Try Details On Before Frosting!
Place candy or whatever details you plan on adding before frosting so you have an idea of how it will actually look. This way you can move it around and decide what will work best without messing up frosting. Then frost and you know exactly where and how you want your details!
